Alvin M. Greene Nikki Haley to Endorse Non RepublicansHaley relishes role of ‘kingmaker’

Gov. Nikki Haley’s ethics are under fire. But the Lexington Republican still has political clout with many S.C. GOP voters.

In two races this month, Haley’s endorsement helped her favored candidates reverse course and win.

Haley says she is not through trying to influence local elections.

Instead, she plans to try to use her political power in November’s general election, endorsing more yet-to-be-determined candidates. That could open the door to the Republican governor endorsing petition candidates who are taking on GOP incumbents.

Nothing news worthy here, she already did when she endorsed that scumbag Lee Bright, you know the self proclaimed christian that doesn’t pay his employees, partners, bills and or taxes but can spend plenty of money to run for office, Thanks Governor!

GREAT Cheap shot head line Gina Smith. You should know, though you may not, that the Gov is supporting Republican’s with conservative ideals. She is going to try to get rid of some SC Senators who only call themselves Republicans and pass a budget that is 12.7% higher than last year. A more intuitive HEAD LINE would have read “Gov Haley supports Candidates against RHINOS”.

It gets better, in Lexington our chair Steve Isom will introduce a resolution tonight suspending the rules so that he can continue to support non-Republican candidates (Katrina Shealy) just like the state party has already been doing. Republicans suspending the rules, yeah that isn’t going to go over real well, with anybody!

    • WLGEB

It went over very well. Katrina is a Republican. Too bad your a Jakee fan. Shows you havn’t spent much time listening to him from the Senate balcony. He stalls all the good bills for years.

This is where half truths are used and comments are ridiculous. Katrina Shealy IS a Republican(much more of one that her opponent)…so are many of the petition candidates. Republicans believe in a choice for elections, not incumbent only ballots that were set up by some of the incumbent Senators in charge of the rules. Please be educated about the issues before simply reading a slanted news piece and spouting politically charged rhetoric.

I am a firm beliver to read the facts before putting someone down. Katrina Shealy went by the book. Her opponet is just running scared finding everything and anything he can pull out of a hat.He knew Katrina had him beat this year so he got busy finding what ever he could find to block her from a winning race….Shame on you ….Mike was right we need folks to be educated about these issues…Republicans suspending the rules, yeah that isn’t going to go over real well, with anybody!

Judy, I guess you and the S.C. Supreme Court just don’t see eye to eye on H-3066 sponsored by then Rep’s Nikki Haley and Nathan Ballentine that required the SEI be filed electronically. Not to mention the original law stating that both the SEI and the SCI be filed at the same time and by the same person and that law had been on the book for twenty years, something any retarded monkey could have learned and executed!

        • Judy Ellis

Well what can I say I guess I am a retarted Monkey because I know Katrina Shealy is the right person for the job. Yes the Law had been in place but until her Opponet got the fear of losing he had to make sure he stopped her.But he also stopped alot of other people and I guess they all thought they had all their dot’s dotted and all their t’s crossed.I just know now there is alot of retarted monkey’s out there…We will see what happens in November and we will push foward for all good things for South Carolina my friend….

  • Big Sam

Fact: Katrina Shealy did not file properly and was kicked off the ballot. Fact: Katrina Shealy is not running as a Republican!

  • Lucee Gibb

Neither are any of the other Petition candidates! The GOP is trying to handpick it’s own candidates. None of the Petition Candidates filed properly and most have not filed their campaign disclosure forms properly either. Check it out!

  • WLGEB

Everyone she endorses are Republicans that got cheated out of their try at the Primary elections.

  • De Cicada

I’m going to endorse a NON Republican for Governor. Whoever runs against Nikki Haley. She’s poison.

  • WLGEB

The people complaning about the backing of the Republicans that were kicked off the ballot must be Jakee Knox backers. They filed the way they were told. They didn’t know they had to file according to last years old rules and this year’s new rules.

    • http://SCHotline.us Jeffrey Sewell

INCONVENIENT FACTS: The filing of the SEI and the SCI have been required by law for the last twenty years. The only change since that time was an additional requirement (Amendment H3066 sponsored by Rep. Nikki Haley) that the SEI ALSO be filed electronically. The law says what the law says and so ruled the SC Supreme Court.

Not sure how you can blame one elected official for the mess. You could blame the party for having posted inadequate filing instructions on the http://www.SCGOP.com/filing website page. You could blame a majority of the county chairs for not providing the correct filing instructions and for not retaining a complete copy of both the SEI and SCI to submit to the SCGOP on March 30th (that’s right, the SCGOP knew who was qualified and who were not March 30, 2012), and or you could hold the individual filers responsible for their own actions, but you would rather blame Jake Knotts that just makes no sense.

    • Judy Ellis

I can assure you I am not backing Jake Knotts not because I don’t like him but because Katrina Shealy can and will do a better job. Look over the years of Jake’s track record it speaks for itself….If there were mistakes made and I am not convinced they were we will see what happens in November. Its not all about Jake its about we need some good things happening real soon…Just my opinion…….
