With great sadness I send the news that Governor Jim Edwards passed away yesterday morning. Governor Edwards was South Carolina’s first Republican Governor (1975-1979) since Reconstruction and instrumental in growing our state Republican Party. Click here for a great summary of his life that appeared in the Post and Courier.
Governor Edwards did more in one life than most could do in two: World War II veteran, oral surgeon, Charleston County Republican Party Chairman, State Senator, Republican National Convention delegate, South Carolina Governor, U.S. Secretary of Energy, and MUSC President. We will miss his incredible leadership.
